How to find nearby antique stores

Find the best nearest antique stores that are local gems! The best tips for searching for vintage shops and antique malls near me.

Nearest antique stores

With the power of the internet, we no longer have to rely on word of mouth to find fantastic antique stores nearest us. Though word of mouth is an excellent way to find local gems and I do encourage that! Here are my favorite ways to find nearby antique stores.

Search nearby antique stores on Google

The most obvious way to find the nearest antique store is to do a quick google search. Check out the review section to see photos of the shops and what visitors like or dislike.

Before you visit an antique shop, don’t forget to make a vintage wish list and bring it along.

Nearest antique stores on Google Maps

Google Maps is another great way to find antique shops by using a map. Search “Antique stores Michigan” or whatever your local state is and it will show you ones nearest you. You can then zoom out or zoom in and click “Search this area” and it will refresh and show you antique shops in the exact area you’re looking for.

I love using Google Maps when I’m planning an antique store and thrift store road trip because you can search along the route you are driving.

Only In Your State Antique Stores

I may be a bit biased as I’m a writer for the travel website Only In Your State but it’s a fantastic resource for finding local hidden gems. There are writers for each state (I’m the Michigan writer) that share their favorite restaurants, attractions, and antique shops in the state. Visit onlyinyourstate.com and search “antique stores Michigan” or whatever your state is. Then see what wonderful shops are waiting for you!

Secret ways to find nearby antique stores

Pinterest for finding antique shops

Search on Pinterest for “Antique stores in North Carolina” and see amazing vintage shops that bloggers write about (See above). You’ll find a lot of photos using this site which is a great way to see if an antique shop is selling what you’re looking for. Click on the images to visit the websites and learn the locations of your next favorite retro shop!

Vintage community on Facebook and Instagram

Search on Facebook for antique stores in your state and you may find some great options. For instance, when I search for antique stores in Michigan, the page “Lakeshore antique trail of West Michigan" comes up. This is a group of 50 antique stores in West Michigan that offer sales on New Years Eve. But it’s also a list of 50 shops I can visit at any time!

Facebook also has millions of active Facebook groups and there are SO MANY antique and vintage groups. This is a great way to get word of mouth from other vintage shoppers and sellers to find the best local spots.

On Instagram, you can follow fellow vintage influencers, ones even in your state, and see where they shop. You can always shoot them a message and ask for vintage shopping recommendations. I found the Burgess Antique Center above because one of my Instagram friends messaged me about it!

Antique store finder

Search by state at antiquestorefinder.com and find places to shop in other states if you plan on going on a vacation.

Search YouTube for vintage shops

YouTube is an excellent resource for virtually walking into antique shops yourself. For instance, in the video above I walk through one of my favorite local antique shops and take my viewers with me. You can search on YouTube for shops near you and see for yourself if you would enjoy shopping there.

Ask at antique shops

When you find a nearby vintage shop worth visiting, ask at the checkout for other recommendations. Oftentimes you’ll find brochures at the checkout counter for other antique stores and flea markets you can visit too.
