Decorating a vintage putz house village creates one of the most beautiful retro Christmas displays. Here are some ideas for how to decorate your Christmas village this year.

Where can you buy vintage putz houses?

Where can you buy vintage putz houses?

Vintage putz houses can be found at antique stores, flea markets, estate sales, and sometimes thrift stores. The easiest way to buy vintage putz houses is online there is a pretty big selection of them. You can also buy an entire vintage putz village lot which is quite valuable. Another great vintage Christmas village option are adorable plastic alpine houses, which I am slowly collecting.

In the video below, you can hear more about valuable vintage Christmas items, including putz houses.

I love using a piece of furniture that has shorter shelves, like a bookcase, to display my putz village. This is a large green bookcase that I love to decorate rainbow for spring and spooky for Halloween. My bookcase is really tall and has a lot of shelves so I use a spring-loaded curtain rod and a vintage Christmas tablecloth to cover up the bottom shelves.

Create levels for your putz village

You’ll want to put your putz houses on risers to create height and visual interest. I love using my vintage pink daisy pyrex and small red 407 pyrex dishes. I also use ticket rolls, vintage ice cream boxes, colorful flower pots, walker honeywhip jars, vintage Christmas ribbon spools, colorful jello molds, random red boxes, and vintage wax paper boxes.

Add Christmas village people & accessories

There are a lot of different options to decorate your village with accessories! There are actual vintage putz village angels that you can purchase and I have a handful of those in my display. I love to incorporate a variety of Gurley candles in my display also.

Of course, you have to include vintage bottle brush trees! Though I do have quite a few new bottle brush trees in my display as well.
